ST. GEORGE'S CASTLE
The St. George's Castle is located in the parish of Santa Maria Maior, in Lisbon. The first forts are from the 1st century B.C. having been rebuilt several times by different peoples and baptized with different names.The castle, as well as several military structures in Lisbon, was remodeled several times, to the point that in the first half of the 20th century it was already in an advanced state of ruin. In the middle of 1940, monumental reconstruction works were carried out, with the lifting of a large part of the walls and towering many of the towers. For this reason, the "medieval character" of this military complex is due to this reconstruction campaign, and not to the preservation of the castle's space from the Middle Ages to the present day.Positioned on the highest hill in the historic center, it offers its visitors one of the most beautiful views of the city and the Tagus river estuary. BOTANICAL GARDEN LISBON
With more than 140 years, the Lisbon Botanical Garden is an authentic natural paradise in the heart of Lisbon. Here we find rare species, curious stories and secrets that little is known. It was founded in 1878 at the former Colégio dos Nobres and has been classified as a National Monument since 2010. In total, there are about 1500 species from the four corners of the world spread over 4 hectares of green area, divided by the Class and the Arboretum. The Class, currently closed to the public, houses the library, the herbarium and Lago de Cima. The Arboretum, at the bottom of the garden, receives large trees and other plants. The Lisbon Oceanarium, originally Pavilhão dos Oceanos, is located in Parque das Nações - Lisbon. BELÉM TOWER
Belém Tower is a fortification located in the parish of Belém, in Lisbon. One of the city's highlights, the monument is an icon of the architecture of King Manuel I.On the four floors of the tower, the Governor's Room, the Kings' Room, the Audience Room and, finally, the Chapel with its characteristic 16th century vaults are maintained. Also known as Torre de São Vicente (1514), this monument belongs to a defense formation in the Tagus basin that was erected by João II de Portugal.The monument is characterized by notorious nationalism, being totally surrounded by decorations of the Coat of Arms of Portugal, as well as inscriptions of crosses of the Order of Christ.Since 1983 it has been classified as World Heritage by the UN for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO) and was elected in 2007 as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.
